The human body is fascinating.
I could talk about health, wellness, nutrition, and exercise all day. The resiliency of the human body to take on everything we throw at it - from everyday tasks, (such as sitting at a desk all day) to monumental ones, (like having a baby) - and keep going is amazing.
There is no ‘right’ way to exercise, and no ‘right’ way to eat. Your best bet is to find something you enjoy, and let everything else go.
Bio-individuality is the key when it comes to working with me.
My body has proven its resilience over and over again. I’ve put my body through the ringer, including:
Breaking and rehabbing a broken ankle
Gaining 30-pounds from said ankle break, and then losing it.
Competing in a series of bodybuilding shows, exercising and dieting my way to 11% body fat.
Reverse-dieting so poorly from said shows that I gained 40-pounds in three months, and created such extreme hormonal duress, I developed a thyroid issue.
I’ve spent countless hours and dollars and healing from body image issues, binge eating, orthorexia, gym burn-out, and more.
And yet, over those years, I have still found myself in the gym. As your trainer, I mean it when I say “we’re in this together. “ You and I share the commonality of having a body, and working to feel great in it.
We all have a body.
Yet so many of us know so little about it. We’ve either created narratives about our own body’s capabilities (“Oh I could never lift that.” or “I’ve never been disciplined enough to run.”); or let culture and the media override our own body’s intuition (fad diets, mass farming, every Cosmo article from the early ‘two-thous,’ and the constant obsession with celebrities weight losses and gains.)
The realm of diet and exercise can be predatory. I can provide tools to help you combat it.
I offer private and group training in your home to those living in the greater Portland, ME area.
If you are working toward a specific goal, can’t find time (or the will) to go a traditional gym, or want to tailor a class to your needs, let’s talk.
I’ll apply different training modalities from weights to cardio, to pilates, to mobility and more to create a program that makes obtaining your health goals easier, and accessible.
